Job Overview

xAI’s mission is to create AI systems that can accurately understand the universe and aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge. Employees are expected to be hands-on, contribute directly to the mission, and demonstrate strong communication skills. The role is based in the Bay Area (San Francisco and Palo Alto) with a focus on optimizing latency and throughput of model inference, building reliable production serving systems for millions of users, and accelerating research on scaling test-time compute. Ideal candidates have experience in system optimizations for model serving, low-level optimizations for inference, algorithmic optimizations, large-scale high concurrent production serving, and testing and benchmarking inference services. The interview process includes a CV review, a 15-minute phone interview, and four technical interviews covering coding, systems hands-on, project deep-dive, and team meet and greet. Interviews are conducted via Google Meet.
