Architectural Assistant – ON-SITE

logoAcorn Homes are looking for either a Part 1 / 2 Architectural Assistant or a Graduate Technician / Technologist to join our growing team!
After taking the design in house, with more land deals being created we have the exciting opportunity to expand our design team. You will be working in the residential sector, predominantly designing flats through new and refurbishment and small housing developments throughout the Somerset area. No two sites or designs are the same, all projects are tailored to suit the local vernacular.
Being part of the design team, you will be involved from initial feasibility study to full planning applications. As you will be working directly for the Developer, you will get to see the design from initial conception come to life. You will be working alongside our experienced Design Manager who will oversee your work and support your development with regular site visits being undertaken. We want to help expand your knowledge and understanding of how a building comes together. You can also start to understand and progress your technical knowledge through assisting with working drawing packages and on site additional details.
Daily tasks could include:· Creating feasibility sketch design.· Concept plans and elevations.· Creation of full planning drawings through G.A plans, renders and photoshop material.· Helping our in-house planner with additional information required.· Creating drawings and information for discharge of conditions.· Assisting with the technical packages.· Choosing materials and obtaining samples to ensure quality and look of the building.
Software being used:· Autocad· Sketchup· Photoshop
Requirements:Must be able to work for a minimum of 6 monthsMust be self-motivated, good time keeping and communications skillsAble to cope with tight deadlines and balancing of multiple projectsAble to use all software currently used in the companyGood presentation skills and always ensuring high level information is created.

The role is office based out of our Head Office in Taunton. Working hours are 8am-5pm (Monday – Thursday) and 8am-4pm (Friday). Salary is competitive and is ensuring the RIBA salaries are met or better.
