About The Role
Yondr is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented BI data engineer to join a newly created BI & Data Services function, you will explore the art-of-the-possible and have expertise in delivering BI solutions to a range of global business functions using Microsoft PowerBI, Snowflake, Azure Datalake, Azure Data Factory and MS D365 F&O. You will be primarily responsible for owning development of data warehousing and BI as an internal capability within the organisation from a technology enablement perspective. As the BI data engineer you will initially focus 70-80% of your time supporting Finance BI, working with many workstream leads, including Finance SMEs, BI business analysts and D365 consultants to understand reporting requirements and the use of data, ensuring Finance BI aligns with Yondr’s data governance standards. You will spend the remainder of your time maturing and growing our BI & Data Services capability to the wider business, supporting and delivering BI Reporting where needed. You will own the maturity of Yondr’s overall BI system design and Snowflake data warehouse and ensure all adoption of BI and associated tooling aligns with Yondr’s data and technology governance practices and standards.
Main Responsibilities
This is a hands-on technical role for a BI Data Engineer and you will align or influence the development, build and ongoing upkeep of Yondr’s BI and Data Warehouse capabilities and ensure they align with best practices, performance and governance. In this role, you will take charge of ensuring the seamless operation and optimisation of Yondr’s Data Warehouse (Snowflake) and collaborate closely other functions within Global Technology and stakeholders across the global business. You will support and align the adoption BI to Yondr’s best practices and where necessary, deliver BI Reporting to global functions unable to self-serve.
/ Base Knowledge & Ownership: SME level knowledge of BI Reporting and Data Warehousing over Snowflake and PowerBI, leveraging D365 F&O, Microsoft Fabric/Dataverse, Microsoft PowerBI data models, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft PowerAutomate/LogicApps, SQL & DAX.
/ Technical Design: Lead the technical design of a robust and scalable Data Warehousing and BI capability, ensuring all technology components meet business requirements and are aligned with industry best practices and compliant with Yondr’s data and technology standards.
/ Advanced Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with senior stakeholders from departments such as Finance, Procurement, HR, HSE, Design & Construction to understand the complexities of their BI Reporting needs. Translate business needs into detailed technical specifications and comprehensive implementation plans for extracting, loading, transforming data from SaaS based line of business systems into Snowflake and ultimately presented in PowerBI.
/ Data Mapping, Architecture & Transformation: Develop and maintain data maps and architectures that facilitate data warehousing of data from SaaS platform APIs, transformation logic and pipeline workflows and BI Presentation. Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all stages.
/ Data Warehouse Development: Create objects, scripts and codes to ingest and transform data in line within Snowflake to best practices for optimal performance e.g. setup of databases, permissions, staging, schemas, tables, views, ETL pipelines (scheduled jobs, merge scripts, appropriate stored procedures for structuring and normalisation of data per requirements).
/ Data Model Development: Work with business analysts, programme managers and other BI adopters on the development of PowerBI data models that facilitate reporting needs.
/ BI Development: Work with the business to deliver powerful data-rich reports and dashboards that effectively and visually articulate the view of the business and respective functions.
/ Testing: Develop rigorous testing plans to ensure data flows and processes function correctly. Identify and resolve any complex issues or discrepancies discovered during SIT/UAT.
/ Monitoring Performance & Optimisation: Ensure high availability and performance of BI Reporting and Data Warehousing solutions by implementing best practices for consuming and handling data, including pipeline monitoring, logging, and error handling. Utilise monitoring and performance management tools to track system performance and resolve issues proactively.
/ Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot and resolve BI Reporting issues promptly, including issues raised as complex and critical incidents. Provide expert technical support and guidance to internal teams, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations downstream.
/ Complete Documentation: Maintain “just enough” documentation for data and warehousing, including data architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, and technical specifications. Ensure documentation is concise, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
/ Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay current with data warehousing best practices including Azure data and integration products, Snowflake and D365 F&O. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance BI Data Warehousing solutions, streamline processes, and adopt new tools and techniques. Lead initiatives to innovate and improve methodologies and practices.
/ Advocate Security and Compliance: Work with our technology, infosec and corporate governance teams to ensure that Yondr’s adoption of data and BI adhere to the highest standards of security, regulatory and accreditation compliance. Implement necessary security measures to protect sensitive data during integration processes and ensure the adoption of BI is demonstrably compliant to ISO27001/22301, SOC2-Type2 and financial audits.
/ Lead Enablement Projects: Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to support successful project outcomes, especially where delivering BI & Reporting is a deliverable to a wider project or initiative enablement. Manage engagements with 3rd parties such as outsourced data services and development teams and/or consultants to ensure delivery of required objectives within agreed time, budget and to required quality.

Required Experience
/ Highly proficient in Snowflake and supporting tooling such as dbt using airflow or prefet and Azure Data Factory.
/ Highly proficient with PowerBI data models and report/dashboard building
/ Highly proficient in full life cycle BI implementations using D365 F&O, M365 PowerPlatform/Fabric, Azure LogicApps, Data Factory, MS Datalake, Snowflake, dbt, SQL and DAX.
/ Highly proficient with common data formats, CSV, JSON, XML, PARQUET, TABLES, and extracting data from RESTful APIs and data exchange services such as OData.
/ Proficient in the Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel and PowerBI Desktop, as well as using Azure DevOps to create a seamless end-to-end CI/CD pipelines, including deploying dbt transformation models, as well as deploying change to BI and infrastructure across DEV, SIT/UAT and Production environments.
/ Strong analytical and BI skills to understand business requirements and translate them into solid data solutions.
/ Strong technical understanding of D365, Fabric and Azure Datalake architecture and components, including their real world constraints and limitations and how to work around them.
/ Demonstratable communication and collaboration skills to align effectively with stakeholders at all levels and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
/ Ability to clearly document and explain proposed solution designs.
/ Demonstrable experience in being a technical and data delivery lead on projects
Preferred Qualifications Or Experience
/ SnowPro Certification: Data Engineer, Administrator or Architect (current or evidence of previously held)
/ Microsoft Certified: DP-203 – Azure Data Engineer Associate / DP-600 – Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate or similar (Current or evidence of previously held)
/ Experience with the wider Microsoft ecosystem, Azure Cloud, Microsoft365, PowerPlatform, Fabric, Dynamics365 F&O, IaaS/PaaS, Cognitive Services, Co-Pilot is very desirable but not essential
