Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Data Engineer to join our dynamic team at Amaris Consulting, based in Belgium. This is a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about data and technology and want to make a significant impact on business transformation.

Your Responsibilities:
Design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems.Ensure that all systems meet the company requirements as well as industry practices.Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.Create custom software components (e.g, specialized UDFs) and analytics applications.Mine hidden insights from company databases using statistical methods to generate useful business reports.Collaborate with data architects (data modelers) to ensure that all developed solutions are in line with the company’s architecture principles.Work closely with IT teams, management and other departments for project planning purposes within your area of responsibility.

 Your Profile:
We’re looking for someone who’s eager to learn more about big data technologies such as Hadoop or Hive. As an ideal candidate, you should be detail-oriented but also able to see the bigger picture, someone who can not only manage large amounts of detailed information but also translate it into actionable strategies.
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is required; Master’s degree would be advantageous.Familiarity with big data tools like Hadoop or Hive is preferred.An understanding of SQL database design and multiple programming languages including Java/Python.Demonstrated ability to build processes that support data transformation, data structures, metadata, and workload management.Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French or Dutch.An analytical mind-set with the ability to work in a team as well as independently.Minimum 1 to 7 years of experience.
