About the Role:
We are looking for a Junior Shopify Developer to join our growing development team. As a key contributor, you’ll collaborate with the Lead Developer, Brand Managers, Operations, and Creative Teams to build custom Shopify websites and eCommerce solutions that drive business success. This role is perfect for a self-motivated junior developer who thrives in a fast-paced, remote work environment and has a strong understanding of ecommerce best practices and Shopify development.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Lead Developer to create and customize Shopify themes.Work closely with Brand, Creative, and Content teams to meet project goals and deliverables.Stay up-to-date with the latest changes and best practices in Shopify development.Translate business requirements into technical specifications and features.Manage multiple development tasks and projects, ensuring timely and quality delivery.Provide expertise in Shopify theme customization, Shopify Liquid, and Storefront APIs.Optimize website performance, ensuring a smooth user experience across all devices.Maintain and update Shopify themes and store components.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the Shopify platform.Contribute to internal documentation and improve team workflows.
Qualifications:
Frontend DevelopmentStrong skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for theme customization and UI improvements.Understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, and spacing for better layouts.Mobile-first design approach to ensure a seamless responsive experience and ensuring cross-browser compatibility.
Shopify Development2-5 years of experience in Shopify development and web design.Proficiency in Shopify’s Liquid templating language for theme customization.Familiarity with Shopify’s Online Store 2.0 architecture (sections, templates, snippets), and Shopify Theme Editor.Basic knowledge of Shopify API.Understanding of Shopify Plus features (e.g., Flows, Checkout Blocks, B2B functionalities) is a plus.Knowledge of SEO best practices (schema markup, meta tags, structured data).Experience with JSON/Metafields for extended product/storefront data.
Design & UI/UXStrong design background with experience in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma.Ability to edit product images, banners, and promotional materials.Creation of UI components (icons, logos, overlays, unique backgrounds).Experience designing and implementing marketing assets such as email/SMS signup popups, banners, and embedded forms using Klaviyo, Attentive, or similar platforms.Consistency in branding through color psychology, typography, and spacing.
Performance OptimizationExperience with image compression, lazy loading, and Shopify speed optimizations.Knowledge of SVG, WebP formats, and efficient asset handling.
Animations & MicrointeractionsAbility to implement CSS animations, HTML canvas animations, GIFs, and hover effects to enhance UI/UX.

Nice-to-Have:
Experience with Shopify Plus or advanced Shopify features, such as custom themes and APIs.Familiarity with Shopify Stencil or other eCommerce development frameworks and tools.
Knowledge of common eCommerce patterns or frameworks for B2B applications, including product catalog management, checkout flow, and payment integrations.
Experience with building or managing Shopify Apps for custom functionality, including integrations with third-party services.
Familiarity with Interactive In-Store Design or integrating physical and online store experiences (e.g., POS systems, in-store pickup).
Experience with installation of marketing analytics, tracking software, and related scripts (Klaviyo, Attentive, Google Analytics, etc)
