Overview

We are seeking a z/OS / Java Developer to support and enhance legacy mainframe systems at USPS, while assisting in the migration to modern technology stacks. The role involves mainframe development, Java-mainframe integration, and automation.

Position

z/OS / Java Developer (Remote)

Responsibilities

Maintain and enhance legacy mainframe systems using IBM z/OS, JCL, COBOL, VSAM, and MQ.Support Java-mainframe integration using JZOS and IBM JavaClassGenerator.Utilize REXX and SAS scripting for automation and data processing.Collaborate on mainframe migration projects and modernization initiatives.Work with CICS and MQ for mainframe communication.Follow mainframe security protocols (RACF) and ensure compliance.

Requirement Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years in mainframe development with IBM z/OS, JCL, COBOL, VSAM, and MQ.Java Skills: Basic experience, particularly for mainframe integration (JZOS required).Integration Tools: IBM JavaClassGenerator for sequential files.Scripting: Proficiency in REXX and SAS for automation and data manipulation.Mainframe Security: Experience with RACF, CICS, and MQ.Preferred: Experience in mainframe modernization and DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git).Nice to Have: Knowledge of MQ with Apache Kafka and performance tuning expertise.
