Job Title: Network AdministratorDuration: 6 months contractLocation: Remote in PST. Preference if they are local to the Bay area and willing to go on-site once in a while.
Job Description:As a Network Administrator with expertise in InfiniBand technology, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our data center networks. You will be responsible for designing, configuring, and troubleshooting network infrastructure, with a strong focus on InfiniBand and Data Center networking, to ensure seamless data flow and exceptional performance. Your skills and experience will contribute to the stability and efficiency of our data center operations.Key Responsibilities:InfiniBand Expertise: Leverage your in-depth knowledge of InfiniBand technology to design, configure, and maintain high-performance networks within our data centers.Network Configuration: Configure and optimize network devices, switches, routers, and other infrastructure components to ensure efficient data transmission and minimal downtime.Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively address issues to maintain peak network efficiency.Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnose and resolve network-related problems, implementing solutions to minimize service disruptions and ensure data center reliability.Security: Implement and maintain robust network security protocols to safeguard data and ensure compliance with industry standards.Collaboration: Work closely with other IT professionals, including system administrators, to develop integrated solutions that meet the organization’s needs.Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and incident reports to ensure transparency and knowledge transfer.Hardware and Software Upgrades: Plan and execute network hardware and software upgrades as needed to keep the data center infrastructure up to date.Vendor Interaction: Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and procure networking equipment, as well as troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.Research and Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to data center networking, bringing new ideas and innovative solutions to the team.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.Proven experience as a Network Administrator with a strong emphasis on data center networks.Extensive expertise in InfiniBand technology, including hands-on experience in design and deployment.Proficiency in network protocols, routing, and switching (e.g., BGP, OSPF, VLANs).Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Knowledge of network security best practices and protocols.Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, InfiniBand certifications) are a plus.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
