The opportunity

Are you interested in developing software for one of the most cutting-edge defence and aerospace projects in the UK? Leonardo is looking for talented
senior Software Engineers to join us in developing software for the radar system currently in development for the 6th generation Stealth Fighter jet – Tempest.

We are looking to grow this team primarily in our newest UK site in Newcastle. There you will help us continue our industry leading contribution to projects in our Radar team.

What You’ll Do As a Software Engineer

Develop an understanding of large complex projects, becoming a trusted expert in a component or the whole architecture.Grow those around you and develop their capabilities.Use
Object oriented languages, primarily C++, to a high standard to align with DO-178C and our internal requirements.Work alongside other engineers, particularly Systems and Firmware engineers to develop the best solution.Own
the full delivery, including the required documentation sets showing full traceability to requirements.Challenge us to evolve and grow the business.

What We Need From You

While we understand that the perfect candidate doesn’t always exist, we really need the following experience for success as a senior level Software Engineer in this team at Leonardo

Current or past industry experience in using C++, or similar, with OOD (Object Oriented Design) techniques.Industry experience in the full software lifecycle.Working and delivering software using agile techniques such
as Scrum, and tooling such as Jira / Confluence / Bitbucket / Gitlab.

Demonstrable experience in the following areas will help you stand out

Model driven development and configuration management toolsets.Experience in developing software for embedded systems.
