Job Title: Senior Python Application Consultant (Legacy Modernization)Location: Remote (USA – Must reside in the USA)Engagement Type: Contract (3-4 Weeks)
About the Engagement:Our client requires a focused due diligence and system assessment exercise for their critical application APIs. These APIs, built in Python over 12 years ago, raise concerns regarding compliance, performance, maintainability, and alignment with modern architectural standards. We are seeking an experienced Python consultant to conduct a comprehensive audit and provide strategic recommendations for modernization.
Role Overview:As a Senior Python Application Consultant, you will play a crucial role in evaluating a legacy Python application, identifying areas for improvement, and outlining a strategic roadmap for its future. This is a high-impact, short-term engagement requiring deep technical expertise and the ability to deliver actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:Comprehensive Performance Audit: Conduct a thorough analysis of the existing Python application APIs to identify performance bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for optimization.Application Health & Scalability Assessment: Evaluate the overall health, stability, and scalability of the legacy application, providing insights into its current state and future potential.Gap & Inefficiency Identification: Pinpoint architectural gaps, technical debt, and operational inefficiencies within the current Python codebase and infrastructure.Recommendations under Microsoft-Approved Frameworks: Propose corrections, optimizations, and modernization strategies aligned with Microsoft-approved architectural frameworks and best practices.Strategic Pathway Definition: Provide an informed pathway and recommendations for either optimizing the application within the existing Python ecosystem or transitioning from the legacy stack to relevant Microsoft technologies (e.g., Azure services, .NET, etc.).
Output of Engagement:You will deliver a detailed technical report that includes:Comprehensive assessment findings.Identified risks and opportunities for modernization.A clear roadmap for technology alignment, including recommended architectural changes and potential technology transitions.
Required Skills and Experience:Must be based in the USA.Proven experience (8+ years) as a Python Developer, Architect, or Consultant, with significant experience in designing, developing, and optimizing complex Python applications.Strong expertise in performance tuning, profiling, and debugging Python applications.Deep understanding of application architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.Experience with legacy system assessment, modernization, and migration strategies.Familiarity with Microsoft technologies and cloud platforms (especially Azure) is highly desirable.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability1 to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical2 stakeholders.Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results within tight deadlines.3
Desired Qualifications:Experience with large-scale enterprise applications.Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure).Prior consulting experience is a plus.
