About the Role:As a Product Developer supporting both men’s and women’s apparel, you will play an essential role at Schaefer Outfitter. This role involves the sourcing and approval of materials,
the development of superior products that meet cost and quality standards, daily collaboration with internal teams, and strong partnerships with external vendors to build functional western apparel made to stand the test
of time and the task at hand. This role will report to the Director of Technical Design and Product Development. Key Responsibilities:Support the apparel team with the development, sourcing, and approval of fabric, lab dips,
strike-offs, trims, hangtags, packaging, and other development materialsMaintain the bill of materials in tech packs with accurate and current informationOwn and maintain the organization of material and trim approvals at
our HQ officePartner with Dir. of Production to track development samples and update WIP reports to ensure the team is on-track to meet calendar deadlinesCommunicate daily with cross-functional departments – Design, Technical
Design, and ProductionCommunicate daily with overseas vendors via email to ensure progress on product developmentSupport cross-functional teams with other responsibilities and projects as neededAttend fittings, cross-functional
meetings, and key milestone meetingsWork on a variety of product categories for both men’s & women’s, including leather, outerwear, denim, wovens, and knits from concept to production approval Expertise We’re Looking
For:Bachelor’s degree in apparel/fashion design or other relevant degree4+ years of product development experience in the apparel industry or other relevant industryStrong knowledge of fabrics, trims, colors, sourcing,
costing, and product developmentStrong knowledge of the apparel product lifecycleSkilled in building detailed, thorough bill of materials in tech packsProficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, and
SharePointExtremely detail-oriented and organizedExceptional time management and task prioritization with an ability to meet deadlinesStrong work ethic, quality standards, and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent
interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsStrong problem-solving and collaboration skillsDesire to learn and grow your knowledge of apparel product developmentAbility to come into the Austin office a minimum
of three days per week, with some weeks requiring four days.
