Job Summary:
We are seeking a Robotics Software Engineer with a strong background in embedded systems to join our team. The ideal candidate will be adept at developing and integrating software for robotics applications while working on embedded platforms. You will contribute to designing, developing, and optimizing robotics software and firmware to ensure the high performance and reliability of robotic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain software for robotics applicationsWork on embedded platforms to integrate robotics software with hardware componentsDevelop and implement low-level drivers and communication protocols for embedded systemsCollaborate with hardware engineers to define system requirements and ensure seamless software integration with robotic hardwareOptimize software for efficiency and real-time performance, considering memory, processing power, and power consumption constraintsDevelop and execute test plans to validate software functionality and system performance on embedded platformsDebug and troubleshoot software and hardware issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAGWork closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and robotics engineers, to achieve project objectivesDocument software development processes, design specifications, and testing resultsStay current with advancements in robotics and embedded systems technologiesPropose and implement improvements to enhance software performance, reliability, and functionality
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldProven experience in robotics software development, with a strong focus on embedded systemsAdvanced in C/C++ and PythonExperience with embedded development tools and platforms (e.g., ARM Cortex, DSPs, FPGAs)Knowledgeable with robotics middleware and frameworks such as ROS (Robot Operating System)Developed IPCs on embedded systems such as DDS, sockets, etcImplemented and troubleshooted communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and wireless standardsAdvanced knowledge of LinuxStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a teamExperience with hardware-software co-design and board bring-up
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with version control systems such as GitFamiliarity with industrial robotics standards and protocolsExperience working with startupsHistory of implementing the hardware abstraction layer (HAL)Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldKnowledge of robotics problems, such as SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), path planning, or computer vision
