About The Role
We’re currently looking for a highly motivated, experienced software engineer to join our team focused on developing cutting edge TV streaming experiences for business. 150 million monthly viewers count on us to deliver high-quality, enjoyable, and engaging experiences in over 60,000 venues worldwide. The right candidate is someone who seeks out challenges and is intrinsically motivated to solve customer-centric problems with novel technology solutions. It’s important that this person is able to efficiently work with the team to ensure we have high implementation quality, strong engineering culture, and a quality mindset. The individual should bring a passion for building fantastic solutions and be willing to play a variety of roles as emergent demands drive the next opportunities for the team.
This is an on-site role in Austin, TX! Availability to be in-office 4-5 days a week is required.
Role Responsibilities
Be intrinsically motivated! Be naturally curious, enjoy seeking out new problems, and driving novel solutions with groups of other engineersIndividually lead significant technical system architecture and major feature implementationsRally the team to solve tough challengesWork with cross-functional peers (product, design, data, business) to design and deliver robust and reliable software solutions to business problemsImprove code and better those around you, leveraging excellent technical skillsCollaborate with other engineers and figure out how to make us better/faster/strongerChampion best practices, developing engineering culture, and have influence outside your direct team within the engineering organization
Requirements
5+ years in delivering world-class customer-facing software productsProven problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issuesExcellent communication skillsCS degree or demonstrably strong computer science fundamentalsDeep understanding of video codecs (H.264, H.265, AV1, etc.) and streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, RTMP, etc.)Experience with cloud-based solutions for video processing and delivery (e.g., AWS Elemental, Azure Media Services)Familiarity with server-side ad insertion (SSAI) technologies (VAST, ad beaconing, SCTE-35, etc) for dynamic ad stitching and trackingExperience with synchronizing media playback across devices (e.g., multi-screen experiences or live events). – Nice to haveFamiliarity with DRM technologies (Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady). – Nice to haveExperience developing native TV applications (Swift, Kotlin). – Nice to have
