Job Summary

Globalstar is looking for a software developer to join a team that develops and maintains software that monitors and controls ground assets such as parabolic dish antennas and other satellite operations metrics. The software developer will be an integral team member throughout the development life cycle by working with engineering and operations analysts to evaluate issues, develop new software solutions, implement processes, and support existing applications.

Duties/Responsibilities

Develop, support and maintain Java and Python applications related to satellite telecommunications system infrastructureWork on system architecture changes to use micro-services and highly available systemsInvestigate reported issues and create hotfixes when necessaryWork with the cross-functional project teams to develop requirementsReview and test code developed by other team members and off-site contractorsFollow the established Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standardsImplement Continuous Integration initiatives using Git, Bamboo/Jenkins, Jira and other tools for version control, automated tests and deployment

Education, Experience, And Licenses/Certifications

Bachelor’s or higher degree program of Computer Science, Information Systems or Computer EngineeringProficient in Python and JavaProficient with Linux systemsFamiliarity with writing software applications that interact with relational databases and SQLFamiliarity with RESTful service designKnowledge of multi-threading and distributed container-based applicationsExperience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment conceptsExperience writing software that interacts with physical equipment such as steerable antennas, motor controllers, RF equipment, or serial / Modbus RTU is preferred
