Software Engineer, Developer Tooling – HYBRID

Job Overview

Whatnot is the largest livestream shopping platform in North America and Europe, redefining e-commerce by blending community, shopping, and entertainment. The role involves maintaining an efficient CI/CD pipeline to help developers ship software faster and safer, building local environment tooling for swift and safe product feature testing, deploying services across different environments, optimizing developer workflows to reduce friction and increase productivity, and providing recommendations for architecture and process improvements. Candidates must be within commuting distance of San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA, New York, NY, or Seattle, WA hubs. Requirements include 5+ years of developer productivity or similar experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience, excellent developer experience instincts, prior experience at a hyper-growth startup, experience with public cloud environments (AWS, GCP) using Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Terraform, expert knowledge of CI/CD workflows, strong coding skills primarily in Python and Elixir (knowledge of these languages not required), and excellent communication and writing skills.
