Siemens Smart Infrastructure is looking for a Software Engineer Fire Safety & Security within the Smart Building team. We are responsible for realizing solutions for (fire) safety and intelligent buildings. As a Software Engineer, you will mainly realize the management system of the building security systems in consultation with customers. From the start of the project to delivery, you are the central point of contact for the Building Management System (or BMS). In this position you will be employed at various customer sites in Belgium, with a focus on Antwerp/Limburg. The customer sites are very varied (including industry, hospitals, data centers, government,…).
Buildings and infrastructure are becoming more and more connected, with different operational systems (fire detection, access control, HVAC management) being connected to one central building management system, in which different underlying technologies interact with each other. The Desigo CC BMS that we create offers our customers a view of the data that their buildings and installations generate.

What will you be doing?
As a software engineer, you’re fully accountable for offering an optimal and accessible user experience to our customers. You’ll be in close contact with your customers, making sure you understand their needs and translating these into a viable technological solution.
This entails the following tasks:
You realize the BMS by dimensioning and installing the software package, carrying out integrations with the subsystems, creating management images, giving client users access, configuring alarms, etc. You also take care of several BMS installations for assigned customers, after their delivery. You perform upgrades, install security patches, and you are involved in migrating BMS systems to new technology. You provide training to end users at customers on the use of their BMS. Finally, you contribute to defining standards around the BMS approach in our projects. You provide feedback, assist your teammates, share experiences, in short, you are partly responsible for the further professional development of BMS systems in our organization.
In your day-to-day life, you won’t be working on your own. We are looking for teamplayers who can communicate effectively. In addition to your customers, you’ll be collaborating with the project manager, the commissioning colleagues, technical support,…
Do we have a match?
You have a broad affinity with software, applications and ICT. Networks, virtualization, databases, firewalls, software installation, etc. have no secrets for you. You have at least some initial work experience in building security (fire detection, cameras, access control). You are the face of the BMS installation at the customer. You are customer-friendly, patient and stress-resistant. You have sufficient persuasive power to use technical arguments to explain the pros and cons of different solutions. You have obtained at least a Bachelor’s degree in Applied IT, Electronics or Automation or equivalent through experience. You are organized and manage your workload and tasks independently. You communicate fluently in Dutch and English. French is an added value.x
