About The Monetization TeamThe Monetization Experience team is responsible for creating intuitive ways for pros to express, manage, and evaluate their outcomes on Thumbtack while allowing us to monetize them sustainably over the long term. The team uses various product surfaces to enable pros to perceive the value Thumbtack provides. The team is critical to the company’s long term revenue growth and is responsible for doing so in a sustainable way that minimizes negative impacts on customers and pros.
About The RoleMonetization is key to the growth of any business, and in this role you will focus on bringing Thumbtack’s Monetization Experience vision to life. The team is highly interdisciplinary, encompassing engineers with a variety of skill sets including frontend engineering, native mobile and backend engineering. As a Software Engineer, you’ll collaborate with other engineers in the team, product managers, and business stakeholders to help execute on a broad range of projects. This could include building new product features to improve the experience of our users, architecting software components to support a fast-growing user base to optimize our monetization experience and provide better control to professionals on our platform to profitably grow their businesses.
What You’ll DoDrive engineering projects to completion, with a tenacious focus on the business impact of those projects. Skilled at prioritizing tasks to deliver on goals with a sense of urgencySolve tough technical problems and stay up-to-date with the latest advances in this constantly evolving problem spaceCollaborate with engineers, analysts, data scientists and product managers to identify and improve the Monetization Experience on Thumbtack platformHelp maintain the operational stability of Thumbtack’s marketplace and the underlying microservices, and help fix any bugs that may cause deterioration in performance or functionality
In order to be successful, you must bringBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience4+ years of industry experience in software engineering3+ years of industry experience working on backend developmentStrong understanding of data structures and algorithmsYou’re fluent in at least one major programming language and would be able to switch between multiple languages. In our stack, we use Go, Scala & PythonYou have experience building software using databases (e.g. Postgres, DynamoDB, etc.)You can break down complex problems rigorously and understand the tradeoffs necessary to deliver great, impactful productsYou’re curious, you’re data-driven, you love to ask questions, and you think critically about problems
Expected salary rangesFor candidates living in San Francisco / Bay Area, San Jose, New York City, or Seattle metros, the expected salary range for the role is currently $169,600.00 – $219,500.00.For candidates living in Austin, TX or Washington DC metros or in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, or Washington states, the expected salary range for the role is currently $152,700.00 – $197,600.00.For candidates living in all other US locations, the expected salary range for this role is currently $144,200.00 – $186,600.00.
Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
