Position Overview

Alkami is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our Product Engineering Money Movement team. The Software Engineer will build computer software systems, participating in the design process from beginning to end. Demonstrates technical domain knowledge of the company, including apps, services, systems, or frameworks.

We’re seeking an experienced engineer who has developed web applications and worked in a distributed, N-tier architecture environment to help us build the next generation of Alkami’s digital banking platform. Additionally, the Software Engineer is responsible for collaborating with engineers throughout the development process. Our Developers work in an Agile environment and are passionate about creating a seamless user experience for our clients and their customers.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Collaborate with our product and engineering teams to identify areas for improvement and help drive the development of new features and functionality for our microservice architecture, Kubernetes infrastructure, and service communication/observability systemsTroubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including performance, related to our microservices and Kubernetes systems, including debugging code to identify the root cause of issuesDrive architecture designs, product and technical design reviews and provide peer technical feedback in collaboration with other senior engineersResponsible for creating performant, scalable, and reliable solutions, including providing technical guidance, best practices and code examples to other integrating teams.Document technical issues and resolutions in our knowledge base and communicate them to our customers and internal teamsTest-driven development while championing an API-first approach software projects, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and extensibilitySet up and maintain environment configurations and monitor system healthRespond promptly to on-call incidents, including troubleshooting and resolving critical disruptions to ensure minimal downtime

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience2-4 years of experience in software development, or a related field, or equivalent.Strong programming skills in an OOP language like Java or C#, or a functional language like KotlinExperience working with event-driven architecture at scaleExperience with microservice designExperience with OpenTelemetry (or similar)Experience working with Database Systems and experience designing scalable solutions in RDBMS and NoSQLExperience working with modern Javascript frameworks like React and Angular, HTML, and CSSExperience using PagerDuty to respond to critical incidents and participate in on-call rotation to support Alkami’s customersExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical clientsStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issuesExperience providing technical leadershipSelf-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a teamUnderstanding and practical application of REST API best practices. Proficiency in adhering to standards, ensuring security, scalability, and optimal performanceDeveloping tests including unit tests, UI automation tests, integration tests

Desired Skills

Experience designing Kubernetes-native microservice architectures, with an emphasis on scalability and performanceExperience architecting and designing event-driven architectures at scale with industry best-practices such as alerting, monitoring etc.Experience working with and designing RESTful and/or gRPC APIsExperience with AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructureExperience with NoSQL is a plusKnowledge in cross-platform mobile development frameworks like FlutterStrong experience designing highly performant and scalable solutions with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes Experience extending Kubernetes with operator and controller patterns is a plusExperience working in the FinTech or Financial Services industry with a mindset of designing solutions to measure business performance
