In this role, you’ll architect and deliver powerful cloud-native systems, mentor engineers, and help reimagine backend services for a major technology transformation.
️ What You’ll Be DoingLead a variety of backend development initiatives, focusing on building secure, scalable, microservice-based architecturesMentor and guide a team of talented engineers while maintaining hands-on involvement in architecture decisions, coding, and system optimizationPartner with product owners to translate business requirements into technical solutions that meet regulatory, security, and performance standardsExplore, experiment with, and integrate new technologies into the engineering ecosystemContribute to a thriving tech culture by participating in tech talks, meetups, and engineering communitiesUse Agile methodologies to deliver enhancements iteratively and effectively
 Technologies You’ll Work WithCore languages: Java, Python, SQL, Node.js, Go, ScalaDatabases: Open-source RDBMS and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)Cloud platforms: AWS (primary), with familiarity in GCP or Azure preferredContainerization: Docker, Kubernetes, and other orchestration toolsModern frameworks: Spring Boot, open-source toolchains, CI/CD pipelines
✅ What You BringBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field4+ years of professional software development experience (beyond internships)1+ year working hands-on with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
⭐ Bonus PointsMaster’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering4+ years experience in Java and Spring Boot backend development3+ years working with NoSQL databases2+ years deploying applications to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)4+ years working with open-source frameworks and toolsets1+ year of team leadership or mentorship experience2+ years applying Agile practices in a delivery environment
 CompensationRichmond, VA salary range: $175,800 – $200,700 (based on experience and role responsibilities)
