The SQL Developer assists in the design, development, documentation and maintenance of Karmak’s database environment to ensure that the performance, quality and reliability surpass the expectations of our customers.

Essential Functions

Ensure that best practices for database design and development activities are followedDesign and implement database systems based on requirements while focusing on reliability, stability and performanceDevelop and troubleshoot complex stored procedures, scripts and functions supporting application developmentPerformance tune queries and provide expertise on set-based operationsDevelop and implement data movement strategies between environmentsWork closely with DevOps to prepare deployment and rollback scripts across development and production environmentsAdminister source control and build process of databases within the Karmak SDLCCreate and manage schema and other technical artifacts relating to the database environmentsTroubleshoot and resolve bugs issues (data or DB code) and performance issuesAssist Product Owners and Quality Assurance in development and testing effortsBe responsible for or be a contributor to documentation artifacts including functional requirements documents, design documents, and data management plans

Essential Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Working knowledge of SQL Server 2012 – 2019, Azure SQL Database, TSQL, Visual Studio and VSTSKnowledge of database tuning and troubleshootingKnowledge of basic Project Management principlesAbility to design, develop and create database objects on Microsoft SQL Server platform. i.e. Tables, Indexes, Keys, Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, Triggers, etc.Ability to monitor Database performance including execution time and experience implementing efficiency improvements.Use of tools to diagnose database performance issues, create reporting index strategies and improve database designs based on SQL executionBachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experienceCooperative attitude and team-orientedMust possess focused multi-tasking abilities and be detail-orientedExcellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills5+ years’ experience in the design and building of data models5+ years’ experience in relational database design and tuning.This is a position that operates with minimal supervision, technical expertise in software development or other Information Technology areas a plus.
