Due to the energy transition and the introduction of more and more renewable energy sources, the increased demand for reactive power, inertia and frequency stabilizing current contribution is necessary for the safe operation of the AC transmission grid. We need a system engineer for design of Statcom application with active power storage for FACTS installation. You will be technically responsible within the team of experts for the design and dimensioning of the main components of a Statcom. These components are e.g. the transformer, converter and the storage system. You will work in a collaborative environment with guided onboarding. How You’ll Make An Impact
Responsibility for evaluation of project requirements and calculation of the technical parameters for the design and rating of the main equipment in a projectAnalysis of potential interaction between Statcom installation and the transmission gridDevelopment and validation of calculation tools (Matlab) and simulation models for EMT simulation tools (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC)Conducting trainings and presentation of design results to customersSupport for tender and project management with expertise in technical discussions and customer meetingsDevelopment of cooperation with regions worldwide and continuous improvement standardization of calculation tools, study procedures, methods, and processes in project execution including documentation of resultsResponsibility for the coordination of external partners and sub-suppliers as well as cooperation with regions worldwide
What You Bring
Very good master’s degree in electrical energy systems or business engineeringKnowledge of the components of electrical power transmission systems such as transformers and convertersPreferred experience in the fields of calculations of high-voltage systems such as short-circuit current determination and in system interaction of high-voltage equipment with the electrical transmission gridGerman and English communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking; additional knowledge of Spanish is welcome
