As a Linux Systems Engineer, you will build the infrastructure for our high traffic, high visibility services. You will provide operational support for critical services that enable connected experiences found across Meta. We constantly review our processes, automate wherever possible, and develop our own toolchains when necessary. Enterprise Systems Engineer Responsibilities:
Build, scale, and secure the Linux environment within Meta enterprise infrastructure, a heterogeneous environment containing diverse operating systems and applications.Apply modern engineering methodologies such as Infrastructure-as-Code, container orchestration, and software-defined storageDesign & implement systems that are scalable, automated, monitored, and well-documentedFind ways to leverage the scale and complexity of the larger Meta production infrastructure to solve problems for enterprise customersLead incident root cause analysis through multiple infrastructure layers (compute, storage, network) and act as a final escalation pointProvide guidance to other engineers on best practices to build mature services which are highly available, reliable, secure, and scalable.Help others around you move faster by identifying issues and driving them to resolution.Influence outcomes within your immediate team, peer engineering teams, and with cross-functional stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)3+ years experience in systems engineering3+ years experience automating the management of infrastructure and services3+ years experience working with monitoring and configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Saltstack, etc3+ years experience coding in at least one of the following languages: Python, Ruby, PHP, Rust, or GoThorough understanding of Linux operating system internalsAbility to work independently, handle large projects simultaneously, and prioritize team roadmap and deliverables by balancing required effort with resulting impact.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience supporting configuration management in a multi-region environmentPrior experience building servicesPrior experience building PaaS or internal clouds
