The Work itself:

Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa’s internal standards for scalability, security, and reusabilityCollaborate cross-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offeringsActively contribute to product quality improvements, value added service technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squadsDevelop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including end-user merchants, b2b, and business to government solutionsLeverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later TechnologyOpportunities to make a difference on a global or local scale through mentorship and continued learning opportunities

Essential Functions:

Develop well-designed, easily testable, secure, manageable and high performant codeImplement Spring (Boot) and Hibernate frameworksDevelop and maintain RESTful servicesWork with Docker, Kubernetes, and Istio for containerization, orchestration, and service meshSupports relationship with product owners to gather and refine requirements for one product task, adding and taking into account existing tools and solutions within a productBegins to develop and design architect solutions, considering integrations with other solutionsProvides relevant knowledge on the development of technical documentation of solutions and follows best practices in technical documentationCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new featuresEnsure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applicationsDevelop code that complies with design specificationsParticipate code-review sessions not only as owner role but also in the reviewer roleDevelop code that complies with secure coding guidelines and Visa Key Controls

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

Strong knowledge of Java, Spring, Hibernate, and RESTful web servicesExperience with distributed event store mechanisms such as KafkaExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, and IstioExperience with Agile Software Development MethodologyExperience with both NoSQL and SQL datastores and their query languages like SQLUnderstanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable applicationExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong communication and team collaboration skillsFamiliarity with secure coding standards e.g. OWASP is plusSkilled in using development tools like Git, Maven, Jenkins including source code control, debugging and profiling
